Professional guitarist, former lead guitar player of Third Eye Blind, and current lead vocalist of XEB.
In 1986 as a teenager Tony was discovered by Mike Varney of Guitar player magazine’s “Spotlight Column”, and owner of the 1980’s/90’s guitar aficionado label Shrapnel records. Tony made 3 records, under the band name Apocrypha, co-producing two of them with Marty Friedman (Cacophony/Megadeath) and in 92 made an instrumental record called Breakneck Speed.
In 1993, through Mike Varney, Tony was introduced to Stephan Jenkins and played guitar in the new start up band called Third Eye Blind, until the end of 1994. Tony contributed lead guitar to the 1996 mega-hit song “Semi Charmed Life” and contributed production ideas to the song Motorcycle Drive By. He returned to Third Eye Blind in late 1999 as the band’s utility musician.
Upon Kevin Cadogan’s departure from the band, Tony officially rejoined the band as it’s lead guitarist in January of 2000. He was co-songwriter, and lead guitarist on the 2003 Third Eye Blind release entitled “Out of the Vein”, as well as the 2009 #3 Billboard album release called “Ursa Major”.
Today Tony plays with XEB which brings together former original members of Third Eye Blind including Kevin Cadogan and Arion Salazar. Together their contributions span 17 years of the band’s history.
Blackbelt Music Educator
Taylor is a guitar-obsessed lifelong student of music as well as a dedicated teacher. He spends just about every waking hour of his average day with a guitar in his hand, either practicing or teaching his roster of private students. Despite what you might think, Taylor did not have good start to his musical journey.
Today Taylor has personally taught over 10,000 lessons and employs a team of certified private music instructors around the U.S. through is company, MusicMatchr. From the beginning, Taylor took a different approach to teaching. He believes that aspiring musicians need to learn in a way that is inspiring, rewarding, and motivating.
The idea behind this project is to inspire students by giving them an opportunity to learn directly from a successful artists and musician like Tony, who can tell them what it takes and show them where they can go.
